Emerson, NJ - MRC Medical Communications, Inc., a diversified medical marketing, advertising and public relations company, has announced the selection of Give Kids The World as its designated charity for the 12-month period from May 2010 through April 2011."
In designating Give Kids The World we are stating that we have looked at the work they are doing - and how they are doing it - and we feel they are deserving of both our support and recommendation," said MRC Medical Communications President and CEO Dave Rector. "We think it is especially important to actively support charitable causes now, many of which are feeling increased pressure in the current economic climate," he added.
According to its published mission statement, Give Kids The World "exists only to fulfill the wishes of all children with life-threatening illnesses and their families from around the world to experience a memorable, joyful, cost-free visit to the Central Florida attractions, and to enjoy the magic of Give Kids The World Village for as long as there is a need." Since 1986, more than 93,000 children have had their dream come true through Give Kids The World. Additionally, the organization has made a promise to never turn a child away.
While no exact monetary value has been associated with the commitment at this early stage, Rector believes the designation will yield favorable results. "We have previously dedicated considerable time and resources to supporting non-profit organizations," said Rector. "We felt it was important to take the next step and make formal selections of a limited number of organizations, allowing us to focus our efforts and thereby provide the charities with increased benefits," he said.
4-Star Rating Influences Decision
Give Kids The World was selected based on its mission as well as its financial track record. "An organization like this makes you wish there were more than 24 hours in a day so that you could have the time to help them in their work," said Rector. "We do, however, feel a charity's financial performance is equally important." For that reason, MRC Medical relied in part on the research and third-party ratings supplied by Charity Navigator. America's premier independent charity evaluator, Charity Navigator works to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the financial health of over 5,400 of America's largest charities, according to its website. Charity Navigator has given Give Kids The World 4-stars - its highest rating.
Awareness a Valuable Contribution
In addition to financial contributions during the course of the year, MRC Medical will help increase awareness about the organization through its own independent efforts. Rector urged other companies to follow suit. "If every small and mid-size company actively spread the word about the worthy causes they believe in, then many of these charities would be significantly helped forward toward their goals." "I look forward to becoming more involved with Give Kids The World and can't wait to see where this year takes us," concluded Rector.
